Yowza, that hurts!

Side effect #1 of writing again: I’ve been feeling really guilty about not working out. Running/working out has always been a part of my blog & you could always tell when I was slacking off on my running because I wasn’t blogging.

So, I started working out again this past week. I’ve been mixing it up a great deal, though, not just sticking to the running. I ordered an awesome pedometer on Amazon & have been striving to get at least 8,000 steps every day. I’ve missed a couple days, but many days I’ve gone to just under 10,000, so all in all, pretty good.  :)  Today, I hit the elliptical machine in the Geek’s gym. Not my favorite machine in the world, but it worked in terms of mixing it up, anyway! We also hit the weights for a good strength training session. Yes, I’m dragging him into this mess as well. Not kicking & screaming, he’s actually an awesome running/workout partner. Just one more thing I love about him.  :D

Anyway – with all the mixing it up & working out, pretty much every muscle in my body is sore now, I think. Wait, no – my forearms are just fine.  :D

Running

I’m getting back into running, but trying to be smart & slow about it. I know what can happen when I jump right into it too fast!  LOL I’m good for 2 miles starting off & will be building from that.

Reading

I’ve not been reading too much, but I do pick up Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World that Can’t Stop Talking here & there to read a bit more on that one. I’ll hold the review until I’m totally done, though.

Knitting

I just finished another hat for the manlet – he wanted one to go with his favorite new jacket – the Minecraft hoodie from Think Geek. It seems very odd to be knitting him a blue/green hat – all of his hats have been red/black or red/yellow/green.  LOL

I’ve also been working on some other things, but will hold off posting about this or that until after a certain day has come & gone.

I HAVE been knitting on my Temperature Scarf, though not this weekend. I’m still really loving it, though I kind of think I should have cast on fewer stitches, it’s quite wide for Florida. Ah well.  :)

Today’s Ravelry Search

In our knitting group, we’ve been talking about knitting one of the patterns I featured a post or two ago – the Love Actually is All Around cowl.  :) Naturally, talk about double knitting came about, so I thought I’d do another post featuring some new awesome patterns that use this technique! I really do enjoy it, you should give it a try!

Part of an eBook collection, but I love, love, LOVE this pattern! I want to knit this scarf so badly, I know I’ll probably end up getting the eBook just for it. But with a name like ‘The Null Hypothesis Scarf’, how can a geek girl resist??

* I do not know why there aren’t a ton of projects on this one – it is gorgeous and FREE!! O_o

Speaking of stunning – WOW. ♥

* Cheerful, bright & an excellent way to use up scrap yarns! I love these potholders!

Super cute potholder! Of course, you could just use the pattern to turn it into a super cute scarf/blanket/bag as well! ;)

* Birds on a Wire! ♥ Fantastic pattern for the bird lover in your life. :)

Endless Violins – just lovely when knit with Chroma!!

* I really wanted to get a picture of a finished project for this one because the owls are adorable – but no one really has one done that shows off the pattern like it deserves. ♥

* Free pattern!

Hope you have an awesome week!
