Something About Fire
A friend of mine posted a link to this one on Facebook.
I like Adele, I love Daft Punk, so I decided, why not take a listen? I liked the mashup so much, I thought I’d share it with all of you! Not so much a running song, but definitely a good one for the cool down! ;)
Running
I confess to several moments of extreme guilt yesterday. My guy & I went to the Kiwanis Club annual Pancake Breakfast at the rec center & the table next to us was full of ladies that are training for next weekend’s half marathon. They had run 8 miles that morning before their pancake breakfast. At least we DID walk there & back! :D The rec center is a mile & a half from my house, so we walked 3 miles for our pancakes – that’s better than driving, right?? ROFL
Reading
I haven’t talked a whole bunch about my total love affair with my Kindle Fire, but rest assured, I am totally in love with it. :D If I’m not reading on it, then I’m watching videos (lately, as you know, I’ve been making my way back through all of Star Trek, TOS – I’m midway through season 2 now) or surfing the web. I absolutely LOVE my Fire, it goes with me almost everywhere. :D
- Wool by Hugh Howey – actually a short story in a series of 5 stories, this is the first of the collection. It is a quick read that will grab you right away & keep you in sucked into the story until the very end. It is a tale of a frightening, sad dystopian future in which mankind has been forced to live underground to survive. Science fiction at its finest, with short bites of the whole story told from different views. This piece is the story of the Sheriff (and his wife). You can either buy the short stories individually or all 5 in an omnibus here. :) Whichever way you decide, I definitely recommend you give it a go based on my read of the first story – it’s fantastic!
Knitting
I finished the manlet’s Socky Slouchy Hat – I just have the blocking picture for it. The yellow & red yarns are Knit Picks Palette & the green is Cascade 220 Fingering. :)
I’m back to knitting a little something for my niece-to-be, Lily. :) It doesn’t look like much in the picture right now, but I’m really hoping it turns out to be super cute. The pattern has long been one of my favorites. You can get the pattern online by joining the Ashford Club (the cost is only $7 USD a year – SO worth it!). :)
Pattern: Cache Coeur for Baby
Yarn: Knit Picks Stroll, Cupcake Multi
Needles: Size 3 straights (the pattern calls for 2.5, but I haven’t got them!)
Today’s Ravelry Search
In keeping with the theme for today, here are some fun selections! ;) Remember, none of these are my patterns. Be sure to go fave them on Ravelry to support the designers!

* Because yes, this geek's blog would be incomplete without at least one geeky pattern! Here is one - Hermione's fire! :D

Ok, I know the name of the pattern is Irish Coffee, but my brain keeps hollering 'GUINNESS' every time I see these socks... ROFL! Either way, YUM!
* I splurged & got an awesome case for my Fire, but this would be a fun one to make if I hadn't! :)

I'm really quite surprised there aren't more projects for this scarf, it's really very lovely. :)
* Ok, I admit it... the name of the pattern caught my eye! "Fire Walk with Me", a Twin Peaks reference FTW! LOL

What an eye catching bag! I love it. And no, I'm not mentioning the whole name/geek thing... oh. Oops. :P

* Never mind what might have inspired it (you all know my feelings about THAT subject!), this blanket is just stunning! It is knit in one piece, no sewing/piecing together required. It is SO going into my library of patterns to be made some day.
* Free pattern
Have a fantastic week, everyone! :)
