I confess – I’ve been bad this week. I haven’t gotten out to run. But in my defense, I have been struck down by a few things, from insomnia to a migraine – it’s been one helluva week, at any rate. I intend to get out first thing in the morning for a solid hour long run, though – I’m in dire need of a good run!!
Ever have just a teensy bit of leftover variegated sock yarn that you just HATE to toss out? Maybe you’ve added enough of your leftovers to your sock yarn blanket already or you have a tiny bit leftover that won’t quite make a new square on it? You’ve got a smidge of yarn left – around 40 yds? Here you go!
Yarn: 40 yards (or 8 grams) fingering weight
Needles: Size 4 (3.5mm)
Cast on 11 with preferred cast on method.
Knit 4 rows in garter, then begin stitch pattern:
Row 1: K2, YO, K2, S1, K2tog, PSSO, K2, YO, K2
Row 2: K2, P7, K2
Continue in stitch pattern until the headband is nearly long enough to wrap around your head at the desired point – leave at least 1 inch of space.
Knit 3 rows & cast off: knit 1, * slip the stitch back to left needle & K2tbl. Repeat from * until all stitches are cast off, leaving a long tail.
Use the tail to sew the ends together (be careful not to end up with a mobius!). Block your headband, but block hard widthwise, not lengthwise – else it might end up being too loose when you wear it!
So I finished my blues shawl Tuesday night in one of my insomniac fits. Wednesday I had the migraine, so wasn’t capable of doing too much – hence my Smidge Headband! :D I’m returning back to my sock pattern, hoping the teensy bit of designing the headband has cleared my head & gotten my creativity flowing again. :D
Today’s Ravelry Search
SO! May I just say… ZOMG I LOVE CASEY SO FREAKING MUCH FOR THE INCREDIBLY AWESOME NEW SEARCH FUNCTIONALITY!!! A-hem. Sorry for shouting, but I have been wanting these improvements to the search feature for so long now & I am over the moon at how fantastic it is!! Woo HOO! :D
Did I ever have fun putting together a search for today with it! ;) Casey – you ROCK!

Happy Thursday, everyone!
I love the new search! It’s so awesome. Did you participate in the search party? I really wanted to win the Namaste prize.
What were you searching for that got these patterns? Sometimes, I can kind of tell (like last week – goth), but I can’t this week.
I did participate in the search party – it was fun! I joined a bit late so didn’t get through too many of them. :)
This week: Rock! Because, you know, Casey ROCKS! Hee!
Cute headband! And, as always great selection .
:D Thanks!! I’ve knit up a bunch of them now, they are going into my sister’s advent calendar for the holiday this year.
cute headband, and hope all the family has got over the lurgy!
Thanks, Suse! :) Luckily, I think everyone is finally over that nasty bug – it was horrible!
merci pour le motif du serre-tête, très joli, je vais le tricoter en Fabel Drops pour une ceinture…
de rien! une ceinture est bonne idée (my french is a bit rusty, pardonnez-moi!). :)
Hey there, thanks for sharing this lovely project. I am making one right now! I love the simple goodness of the pattern. May I just point out that your chart is missing two stitches? When I make the YO I have to make two knit stitches and then do the sk2p, right? But in the chart it shows only one knit stitch. However, the written explanation is clear enough to work it out! Lots of love from Belgium,
