It’s too damn cold to run

Running

That’s ma story & I’m sticking to it.  I am FREEZING!!  And this morning I’m not feeling so hot because I actually drank wine last night.  I think if I try to run today, I’ll be puking in the bushes.  I am SO not a drinker – WTF was I thinking?!  And yeah, I had like 2 glasses of wine over 3 hours or something equally ridiculous.  Maybe if I feel a bit less queasy later, I’ll attempt a run or maybe a Tae Bo workout (since it’s much warmer inside!).

Knitting

With all the cold weather, I’ve gotten some progress on the knitting front – yay!!  :D  I finished up the Candleflame Shawl and I’m quite pleased with how it turned out…

Why, yes, it IS a holiday gift for the 2009 holidays, why do you ask? ;)

So next up is a lace project for the Rubberneckers Not Rubbernecking group on Ravelry.  We’re doing a lace KAL, pretty much any lace project we want.  I’m tackling the Asphodel Lace Scarf for the first go round.  I’m quite pleased with it so far…

I’ve broken my “only one project at a time” rule…  I’ve also gotten a new sock pattern OTN!  w00t!   This one is Draco, for sure.  I’ve got the plan worked out in my head – we shall see how it pans out.  For the HP fans ~ think of Draco in Deathly Hallows…  caught in a bad situation & unable to see his way out.  No more hints!  ;)

Reading

Speaking of HP…  I just read some fan fiction last night whilst knitting.  It was a dark read & while entertaining, it wasn’t entirely my cup of tea.  I’m waiting for a long one to finish up, my fellow fan fic lovers on Ravelry have been singing the praises for Bundle of Joy, which is on The Petulant Poetess.  I won’t read a WIP, myself, having been burned more than once by an abandoned story.  Plus I hate that whole waiting a week (or sometimes a month!) just to read one chapter bit.  I want to read stories in one sitting, damn it!  LOL

In the meantime, I’m reading a funny little book I picked up from the library,  Death, A Life by George Pendle .  The beginning feels forced, but now that Satan has moved to Earth, the story is picking up and finding it’s flow.  I’ve had a few moments of downright LOLing – like the T-Rex was a vegetarian until Satan got ahold of them.   If you like Monty Python, Douglas Adams or Christopher Moore, then I think you’d get a few laughs out of this one.  Definitely not for the serious nor the religious!

  1. Looks like you’re not going to get a reprieve from the Floridian cold ’til this weekend. I’m sure that I’ll miss the “freezing cold” by mid-August.

I know, it just sucks! It wouldn’t be so bad if I could find a way to run after work, but I’m simply too exhausted & busy with all the chores then. *sigh* Most frustrating! Looks like Wednesday is really going to be rough – temps at freezing in most areas!

ROFL – my main complaint is that I haven’t got “real” cold weather gear to run in… just sweatpants & those are utterly miserable to run in for any length of time! OMGosh yes, isn’t that beret fab?! :D

As I’m just starting with this blogging lark, I figured if I’m posting comments anywhere I should probably post to you – read Bundle. I will stalk you from the pages of Ravelry, onto WordPress, or onto my very own iBlog (trying to sort this HTML thing is making me nauseous.) in order to get you to read it. And then you can thank us all.

I didn’t know you were a runner! Personally, I’m reluctant to run unless there is something big and hairy with teeth chasing me, but then, that’s just me.
;-) (and i never emoticon. NEVER. consider yourself privileged)

ROFL!! Between you & abycat, you guys are *killing* me over Bundle!! ;) And hey, welcome to the wonderful world of blogging! I actually really like it, myself – though I must get more people to comment somehow. I really like it when I get feedback!

Ooooh, yes – I’ve been a runner for quite some time. I’m totally addicted & love, love, LOVE running. Just haven’t been able to do much since I’m recovering from an injury. Doggone it!

I’m trying to install WordPress locally so that I can switch, as iBlog is a pain in my nonexistent bollix. As it stands it looks bizarre. I am hunting down my inner computer geek to get this to work, and approaching it with less than no html knowledge is frustrating.

You will love Bundle once you finish it. Trust me. It’s adorable. And now, the hype has probably ruined it for you. I do wish you didn’t drive us to it.

I find that endorphin-runners-high myth exactly that. A myth. My only motivation for running is not the feeling of euphoria, but the promise…or hope, rather….of a smaller bottom. And maybe the drive to see my collarbones once again.

I just use the online free version of WordPress, myself. I love it! It did take me a bit of playing around with it to get my blog to look the way I wanted, but then I’m totally a geek & had loads of fun with it. I have friends on Blogger & they seem to like it, too. Give them both a look-see & see which one is the best fit for ya!

I know, I’m trying really hard not to get too hyped up over Bundle. I had that happen with ET ~ I did not see that until 10 years or so after it was out and I was SO disappointed. There was no way it could live up to the hype.

Hmmm, I’ve had times where I felt what I could call a “high”, but it’s really quite rare. I do actually LOVE to workout, so it feels good even without a high. Running has really been the best way for me & several of my friends to get the weight off & to keep it off, so I totally hear what you’re saying there! :)
